Hi All,

Looking to get going on my Bride of Pinbot make. Whilst happy to buy and refurbish am quite keen on making much from new and then sourcing the rest.

So would like to make the Playfield and then buy the overlay, and in a similar way make the cabinet and then buy the side / front decals.

To that end is it possible to get hold of dimensioned drawings from the Playfield / Cabinet and even Backbox so I can make from them?

Cheers

Phil

In a word..... No!!!

Apologies mate as I’m not aware of the back story here. But is there a reason why you’re trying to scratch build a BoP?

Do you have all the parts to populate a playfield?

You can get a complete bop project for a few hundred quid.

If I’ve missed something in another thread then I apologise.

Building the cab from scratch is doable, playfield would be almost impossible I think. If you had a playfield to copy then it just be very difficult, bordering on the impossible.

As well as getting the playfield cut you need to create a wiring loom, and make all of the parts to populate the playfield. You are also going to need a board set to make it all work.

I agree the best thing to do would be to buy a complete wreck and do it up which will be challenging enough I would think.

Hi, thanks for the comments.

Fancied making the Playfield and Cabinet as love a bit of woodwork, the rest was hoping to buy as time goes by. Happy with the wiring etc.

Guess will look for a wreck and go from that.

If anyone has one / knows of one then give us a shout.

Cheers

You can buy a nice BOP for what it will cost you in boards and ramps. Seems like an AWFUL lot of effort for a mediocre game.

Few hundred quid £1400 for a playing rough one these days ! A knackered playfield just made £280 on fleabay !

We’ll agree to disagree on that one then. I’d want a pretty nice bop for £1400. I sold my pretty nice one not so many moons ago for £750.
They’re out there. A lot of pins move in circles outside of eBay and the forum for less than most people might think.
But hey. Who cares. It’s only Pinball 🤘🤘

Thanks again.

I picked BOP as I had previously bought the Backbox artwork and rather like the picture.

Suspect also this project is more about the research / buying / repairing and a piece of art than it ever will be about playing the game.

If there are other machines that would be more accessible in terms of fixer uppers than BOP and that look as good more than happy to do that.

Looks good for me = retro not vintage, so 80’s / 90’s. Mostly would prefer not a movie tie in. Like a sci-fi theme although by no means fixated on that.

Again thanks for all the comments, and please excuse my newbie lack of knowledge.

Think times are moving on - BOP is a good stater game ( I loved mine so much I’ve stripped and refurbished it ) - mine was a dirty but playing machine and well over £1000 a year ago when there was total heaps of **** on eBay making £1300
Good machine though , I doubt I’ll ever sell mine
