Why build a whole new game when all you need to do is do some new artwork and build a new cab? They've got the code from 2.0 so this is a semi-cheap way to make a whole new game.
no, my prediction, DP will be out of business by the end of the year. Irrespective of who is at fault the way they are handling this has killed any trust their community has in them. Lying about faulty boards rather than coming clean about the dispute was a huge mistake. I also think they'd be better to find the money to pay ARA in the short term, get a lawyer to go after them in parallel, but get the machines out of limbo and take it on the chin and mark it down to experience, if the legal approach gets them anywhere then its a bonus. Not getting those machines shipped and not offering a refund basically is 300 nails for their coffin. They clearly have some money if they intend to develop the BOP25 machine but they have zero trust in the industry. If I had one of their games and the refused to refund me or ship me I'd have the dutch equivalent of a winding up order sorted out pronto.
Nobody knows for sure who it will be, but there's gotta be some pinball companies merging or going under soon, as there just isn't enough of a market to support them all. A few hundred middle aged blokes here, a few thousand in Europe, few thousand in the US ..... and only a small proportion of them all can even think about affording a NIB .....
I can't see them all still in business in 2018 but you never know. My money is on the survivors including Stern and Homepin and after that it's anyone's guess.
