Funny, I was just talking about this on Facebook.
I'm just in the process of inspecting a dead Star Wars Trilogy and the Duracell (stamped 2017) batteries are leaking the f*ck all over the place. They are literally split at the seams and leaking like there is no tomorrow.
I keep seeing this time and time again, and it is almost certain that they are fakes (yes there are tones of fake batteries out there)
Duracell do not sell their batteries at a discount unless you are buying them in bulk packs. Only ever buy them from reputable suppliers. The best places being CPC / Farnell where you can get them in Procell bulk packs, and they will have come direct from the manufacturer.
If you see cheap Duracell on car boots, markets, ebay, corner shops, amazon marketplace etc there is a very high chance they are fake.
You get what you pay for, and it is worth saving a couple of quid to risk a £200 CPU board?
You would be better off with supermarket own brand alkalines if you want to save money, than you would risking it with fakes.
