I'm in need of a pair of the shafts/shoes that are used to mount the old-style 2-inch mini-flippers (the ones with the word "FLIPPER" embossed on the top). I got a pair of lovely new repro flippers from the US but didn't realise that the current mini-flippers (the wrong style) on my Paragon and Vector have shafts moulded into the bat.

A picture paints a thousand words and to be clear about what I'm after:

I guess there's also a little fixing screw too? Pretty much any condition considered as I'm a dab hand with the buffing machine ;)

Here are the flippers I got in case there's something odd about them and I need a special shaft or something equally annoying:

I managed to find one of these shaft/shoes in a job lot of flippers on eBay, but I still need one more if anyone has one kicking around?

After a bit of Novus 3, 2, 1, a little Autosol and some elbow grease I know have a test flipper for Vector:

Included in the job-lot was:
  • 2 x NOS Yellow Correct "W" Logo Williams flipper #20-10110-6
  • 1 x Black Bally/Williams Ridged Flipper #20-9592-7 as used on PARTY ZONE
  • 2 x Yellow "W" Logo Williams flipper with 6-1/2" shaft for NO FEAR #20-10136.1-6
  • 4 x White "W" Logo Williams Lightning Bolt flipper #20-9734-5
  • 3 x White Upside-Down Motorola "W" Logo Williams flipper #20-9250-5
  • 2 x Yellow Upside-Down Motorola "W" Logo Williams flipper #20-9250-6
  • 4 x White 2" mini-flipper #20-9732-5 found in the likes of POPEYE
I'll be attacking all of them in due course with the Novus and Autosol, and offering them up for a few quid. Let me know if they're of use to you as none of them are suitable for my pins at all.

I've also go a transparent red 2" mini-flipper which was incorrectly fitted to my Paragon. I can't find a reference on-line and not sure what they have been fitted too, but may be of use to someone?

Or C, None of the above. Ha ha. I got it off yahoo group. Hopefully collecting it this weekend. Not perfect but not the worst I've seen.

Oooh! Looks like yours might have seen a little Sharpie action but much, much better condition than mine:

Are you planning to restore or just shop into a nice player?

I have a Shop Log on here http://www.pinballinfo.com/communit...n-budget-restoration-1978-bally-paragon.6519/ and Flickr album with over 600 photos https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterduerden/sets/72157633156984778/.

I've been following your shop log mate. I'm not touching it. It's working and clean so that'll do me.
I checked ukpinball and assume you bought the paragon from Ken Brooker in Leicester? He's the very nice bloke who gave me the old rotten populated Paragon playfield and assorted bag of bits, including about 50 red Bally star posts. Several pics on my Flickr.

I was only passing through at the time and couldn't stop for than 10 minutes as I had a car full of kids and cats, but Ken was very nice and chatty, and happy to show me his pin collection. He is/was an arcade service engineer and his garage is stuffed full of boxes and boxes of pinball spares. He had a rather nice Bally Embryon that is the same super-widebody size as Paragon and would look great sat together.

Cool, thanks Nedreud, that's the one I'm getting. Reassuring to hear. Embryon is awesome isn't it.

I think those red 2" flippers were used for the mini-playfield of Elektra.

Also, the older type of small flipper, as used on Paragon, Vector, etc, usually had two rubber rings fitted. The playfield parts charts of Paragon & Space Invaders, f'r instance, only tally the number of 1" bands required by counting the small flipper(s) with two bands on.

I can probably dig out a used small shaft , or would you prefer me to get a new one ordered for you.

Hi Andy,

Another member contacted me to say he's got a couple after my NECROBUMP! I'm completely happy with a used one so please disregard my other request to order one from Marco. I haven't confirmed exchange of beer tokens yet but if you've got one that'd be fab, I'll grab it at UKPP, good to have a spare as both my pins have these mini flippers. Not 100% certain I'm there on Saturday but definitely will be on Sunday. Got a few other bits and bobs I'll need, like big sleeves for the drop-target coils and Molex 0.1" and 0.156" housings. Will you be taking your carousel of parts goodies like last year?

Random thought: are you able to burn ROMs? I might need a set for a Bally GOLD BALL which I'm collecting on the way home from UKPP. Also, I've noticed there is a custom ROM set for PARAGON that does the same minimum 1-credit free-play hack as my VECTOR. Can you supply that too?

Thanks, Peter
