It's with a heavy heart that I will be starting to part ways with a big chunk of my collection this year (That's the plan anyway) First up is Elektra, I bought this last year on a bit of a whim not knowing much about the game at all and I really did fall in love with it and it's been thoroughly enjoyed while living at my workshop.
Since it's been with me it's been:
- Playfield: Stripped, cleaned, waxed, all playfield metalwork tumbled and polished, plastics cleaned and polished, posts cleaned, rubbers replaced with Perfect Plays, Comet LED's installed, new plastic acorn nuts (instead of the lousy rubber ones that fall off!), Powerball installed in the lower playfield.
- Backbox: Sound board recapped and speech fault repaired, Lamp Driver and External lamp Driver boards upgraded with new, MPU board is new also. Replaced shorted SL3081 IC on Solenoid Driver which was causing knocker to lock on. Replaced dead lamp driver transistor on new board (go figure!)
-Cabinet: Bridge Rectifier board reflowed and wiring hacks to fuse block and rectifiers repaired. Missing knocker mech/coil replaced (guessing it was all thrown out previously when it locked on)
I'm sure there is more but I'll update as I remember
Only bad points I can think of really is there is a crack in the plastic at the rear right of the playfield and a little chip missing at the rear left - neither of which can be seen when the playfield is down. Legs would benefit from being replated or replaced but whose wouldn't! The upper playfield was previously touched up a little by the gate, wasn't mentioned to me when I bought it and I've only just noticed it myself so can't be too bad of a job
All in all it plays beautifully, if you want to see it in action please check out this video where I run through the rules and show multiple games:
It is still setup in my workshop on the outskirts of Chelmsford, Essex where you are more than welcome to come and view it and give it some flips should you wish. Martin knows where I am if you want to use him for collection, any other questions, picture requests etc. just let me know
James
