Hi All.
Here is our next full refurbishment project. (Got a story attached to this one! That nearly ruined my reputation!! Those who know , know, those that don’t won’t.......).😉
But what is it? Just to keep you guessing, for something to do. Can you name the game, that’s next in line for the pinball pimp stencils treatment?...... will post one picture as a clue...probably not that tricky for you all, as most of you are self confessed pinball addicts. And let’s be honest there are many things to be addicted to more harmful.......
CLUE 1). Serial number. ERF3168.
CLUE2). A picture of it sanded down,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Will update the thread when someone guesses. (Probably tonight). With all the details and plans. This game has been sold to a clients specific requirements. So it will not be painted in original colours. (Amongst other things, that will be revealed as we go along, but due to very high work levels this log will not be as detailed as I might like.)
Cheers Keef..........

Ok....I know everyone favours the first edition with cream apron and traditional s.s. Cabinet but the l.e. Does have a certain charm about it. Reminding all that played the arcades in the eighties what a huge flop rapid fire (project xerox) really was....
This particular l.e. Has an uncut rapid fire cab. Most were cut at an angle on the main cabinet at the rear. Into a kind of triangle shape, but this one is 100% rapid fire cab. And as you can see from the first post it has the original rapid fire artwork still there and just oversprayed in primer and gold paint......erf = electronic rapid fire, for the serial number. So basically my client wants it painted in Ferrari metallics. (Nero, ruby, and good ole duffer gold ). Wants a cream apron, and a new playfield.
So we are going to use a hardtop for the very first time....instead of the preferred cpr gold option. Watch this space for how we get on with the hardtop install. And the good old fluorescent tube replaced with an led backlight.

so did you fill the stamped in rapid fire serial number,or leave as is?

Bit more progress....As I said bit briefer log than usual.
Coin door, frame and lockdown receiver on.....

Boards in. Well most of them anyway. All from different machines..ha...ha...lamp board from a ground shaker, aux lamp board from a space invaders. Squawk and talk from Jim @myPinballs. (Nice piece of kit!). And mpu from alltek. What a Frankenstein. Solenoid driver board hiding some place in the workshop. (A.k.a. Lost it!.....).....wires need a bit of a tidy, started to tie wrap.....more to follow soon.....

Very eagle eyed, Chris. @ronsplooter Also in the previous thread was a limited run of @Wayne J pinball “onatop” workbenches, Very handy indeed.......😋
Good to know it's still going strong, nearly 4 years ago I started making these.
I've got 2, 1 I use for soldering on, the other sits on whatever machine is next to the one I'm playing - to have my cup of tea on 😁

Right. So I went to start the hardtop install this morning and Rosie’s opinion was that with a small amount of touching in and clearcoating it’s far to good to sand off! What do you guys think.? Good to keep original? Rosie has touched up, briefly some worn areas to give you some ideas what it would look like with a bit more paint and some clear.
Let me know your opinions please. Much appreciated. K.

Now it’s finished we rather like the look of the l.e. Before we were hung up on the “cream”. 1st edition like many others.
Here are some pictures of the finished article. Plays lovely, just as I remember back in the day. And still remembered how to play it as well! See final picture. But as usual I tilted out my last ball bonus to early🙈. Left the playfield original in the end cleaned up ok. To good to sand off anyway.
Playfield got new plastics. New drop target set. New star posts. New rubbers. New flippers/mechs.
I have said it before and I will say it again Bally ss games rule the Pinball seas.............
