Back glasses in Auction

if people bag some of those for £30 each, even with auction taxes, that's still a good deal,I would have thought Flash gordon and Fathom would be the most sought after ones

I don’t own any of these pins but they should be saved to help maintain our pins into the future. I think that’s a great offer. I’m happy to offer a donation towards the bids

I'm happy to fund them and sit on them until folk want them and any unsold I will turn (eventually) into nice backglass led lit artwork (whenever I do this, it is non destructive, so can always be put back into a machine in the future).

The descriptions of all the backglasses say that they have been "professionally framed". I'd hope that whoever framed tham has done so non-destructively so they could be used in a pinball machine in the future.

Is about 10 miles from me. I can go and view if anyone wants as those pics ain't good. I do want, S&S, FG & Spectrum as spares

In terms of location, they seem to have several (Oxfordshire, London etc..). Am I correct in assuming that the location for this auction is their main HQ near Derby?

Keep us posted on the outcome please! I’d be surprised if many of these went for anything less than double the auctioneer’s estimate. I think they are great works of art.

50th birthday present to me. It was an amazing collection, I offered to buy the lot but the auctioneer was not interested.

Most were in amazing shape, many flawless. An operator had framed them for his own collection.

I know I overpaid, but I have messed about chasing rainbows with backglasses before. Some repros are OK, others are total crap.

Fathom (for my game), Strikes, Paragon, Tri Zone (condition not the best), Future Spa, Vector

Strikes and Spares is an absolute favourite and is also staying with me. If anyone wants any of the others to complete their existing game then I don't want a piece of wall art to stand in their way. Drop me a PM

Have interest in Future Spa.

I want to do the right thing here. A tidy, complete game is what we all strive for. If you have a game that needs one of these, don't be shy.

Once I have drilled my walls, these backglasses are staying put.

@DRD Have you got your old fathom backglass available? please Mine is totally shot, missed the auction one, so looking for one better than I have currently.

The ebay guy in Bridlington that bought 9? of them has started dropping the prices from absolutely absurd to just ridiculous.

They are all up for 300 a piece, I suspect that he will be realising that Fathom, Flash Gordon, Strikes & Spares and Paragon are rather more valuable than Fire Mountain (he paid about 100 inc premium), Locomotion (he paid about 150 inc premium and tried to sell for 425 !!!) and Black Belt (he paid about 63 Inc premium).

May well get cheaper soon ..... my 20 quid offer for the iconic locomotion one was rejected fortunately

Strikes n spares is a classic, I have one on my wall too.
How much is a space invaders worth (both glasses), got to be up there with the best.

Backglasses rarely change hands on ebay.

I think this sale has given us the best price transparency we could hope for. There were rubbish ones, right up to the very best Classic Ballys.

Alan's list above has the hammer price on the left. You have to add 25 per cent to this to get what folk actually paid.

Fathom at 273 all in was the most expensive. This is about the all in price of bringing repros over from America.

I'd guess that Space Invaders is that sort of money.

Here's my modest collection.
I bought the rolling stones one before I had any machines & the strikes n spares, wizards & space invaders for less than 100 . That was 7 years ago.
Made the backlit frames myself.

Just remembered I have a kiss one that I put away a few years ago and forgot about! Its fairly flakey though.

Of the 19 backglasses sold, 6 are on my wall.

I don't think Mr Ebay bought Flash Gordon as that was never on eBay.

He still has 11 of the other 12 on the bay at 300 each or more
