Hi all,

Mate of mine is after a 'retro' arcade game. He's been bidding on an original 'Space Invaders' cocktail cabinet that 'comes with original fag burns" but was outbid at £900. I mentioned that there are various full height/cocktail cabinets now that play hundreds of games which he liked.

He's been looking at 1up/Liberty Games/Home Leisure but I said I'd ask this forum as I know some of you guys have some of these games.

Don't want to make a huge thread out of this is I think it has been done before, but where's the best place to go to get a, say, a machine that plays (at least) the classics (Space invaders, Donkey Kong, Frogger etc etc) ?

Can be brand new or second hand.

(as an aside, he's just bought a second hand retro 'Evil Knievel' wind up bike that most of us had as a kid, not mint and I think it was about £1k. Mental money for the stuff we used to throw around in the dirt. Wish I kept mine).

Cheers all.

I would say obviously avoid Liberty Games and Home Leisure unless he likes massively overpaying for something.

If he just wasnt a multigame retro type thing you should be able to get a new build cocktail cab or Jamma upright for a few hundred with a 60in1 in it, getting an original cocktail will usually mean its limited to a single game.

Indeed. I did say don't go down the Liberty / HL route anyway for the obvious reasons.

Yeah, a 60 in 1 sounds great so original not necessary. Any idea of where to buy?

Thanks

As said avoid all those LG type places.

First question really is whether he wants a CRT in it, which will inevitably need fixing, or if he wants/prefers a (please forgive me father for I am about to sin) modern LCD screen...

There was one on Ukvac for £450 with a CRT with a 60 in 1 . Then it went on eBay and sold recently was going to by that myself, but that ment I would have had two🫣 . The one on eBay for £550 been on there now for a few weeks .The one big thing for me is the control panels as space invaders has only one button but a 60in1 needs two buttons and that one the buttons are not inline or the same . You can swap out the control panels very easily but finding the replacement might not be that easy.
