Hello,

I have a Stern Star Wars LE and given it’s a keeper, I am interested in fitting Insider Connect to it.

Has anyone fitted it to their LE and if so, what was the deal with the apron?

Cheers!

I think a few people have installed IC into the coin return window on LEs to save trying/having to cut the aprons on them.

There is a plastic you can 3d print or get one from collywobbles

The stern spike 2 prem/Le aprons come with a plastic on the right side, which covers a hole in the apron, you need to remove that and fit the kit.
No drilling/cutting required but you do lose the plastic art essentially.

Thanks both, sounds like the coin door option is a good solution.

Did you still have to buy the Premium / LE Insider Connect or can you use the Pro Version.

@Colywobbles Are you still doing the coin door kit?

The 2 versions of the kit are the same price. If you're going to fit the QR scanner to the coin door it doesn't matter which version you buy as you'll just use the QR scanner from either kit, along with the wifi dongle and micro sd card. You'll also need a 3m ethernet cable to plug the scanner into the main board in the head ( you can plug it into the underplayfield node board but then you'd have to remember to disconnect it every time you lift the playfield which would be a pain ). When plugging the long ethernet cable into the main board only use one of the free RJ45 sockets on the lower edge of the board, nowhere else!.

If you do decide to fit on the apron, you’ll need the prem/Le kit as it’s got the custom plate to allow fitting, whereas the pro version has a new plastic apron in the kit instead of that custom plate.

OK, fitted the Insider Connect reader in the coin door and I was all ready to connect it up, but I don’t have any free network slots either in the Node boards nor the backbox. I have the Stern R2D2 Topper.

Has anyone seen this before or know what I need to do to sort it?

Thanks!

I was told not to use the port on the top, is that correct.

Long shot, but anyone with a Star Wars, Topper and Insider Connect fitted?

you need one of these:

and another RJ45 cable. For the time being I'd just unplug the topper until you get the splitter.

Batman 66 has the same issue.

unplug a cable from the node board near the arch, connect it to the splitter, run a cable from the splitter to the node board and a cable from the splitter to the SIC reader.

Neil.

Thanks Neil, much appreciated.

Maybe not everyone’s ideal fix but I’ve just jumped into the nearest node board at the front of the playfield on both my DP and TMNT.
I had to remove a blank on one of them but that was it.

I’ve got the BM66 & Starwars aprons & IC kits coming hopefully.

I would then like how to make a leaderboard on screen like In Bars or at EAG. Is that possible!

@Neil McRae I think you have one at Domino, is that correct?

leaderboards not available to home users yet. And what’s available now would be pointless unless you have a lot of players recording scores. SIC will only display one score per player!

Operator only feature.

George told me something is coming for home but wasn't specific.

OK, it’s been a few weeks since I have had the kit, but it is all set up and working!

Thanks to @Jib for selling me the kit and to @Colywobbles and @Neil McRae for the help getting me set up! I have to say, much happier with it in the coin door.

Had a quick game and I have to say I was very impressed, as a Gamer, it is very similar to X-Box. Loads more potential and I hope they move to an app, rather than through a website.

My icon is also on brand for Big Buck Hunter Pro……..🦌

Here is my leaderboard for home:

It originally just had my scores but since my last event a few others logged in. Its still **** though.

Are these scores wipeable, or are they now there forever?

Wouldn't mind my DP score disappearing :D

there is no way for me to wipe them! Other than take a date for the board that's after that score. Same for Scorbit also actually although sorbitvision is 1000000% better than SIC

OK, just as an update to this, I have had it fitted to my Star Wars for about 2 weeks now and I am very impressed with it. It has made me play more and has also given the game a different dimension, as opposed to just chasing scores. Some of the achievement are good at tracking between games, not just on standalone games (I.e. Number of Tie-Fighters destroyed lifetime).

My one criticism is there is no app for it, which is a bit surprising. Does anyone know if they are working on one?

Basically, if you have a keeper, I would recommend retro fitting this, especially if you have a small collection like me.
