Anyone Know About the Isle of Man ?

Is anyone on here familiar with the Isle of Man ?

Thinking of going for a week in November, so we can see it with poor weather. Wife will be working remotely during the day so would need reasonable cellular or landlines broadband. In the evening we'd be doing the foam discos and exciting nightlife on offer.

I would be prowling around during the day, getting a feel for the place, looking at a house or two, getting my head round whether we might move out there within a couple of years.

Where would be a good place to stay pls ? Could do a couple of the villages/ towns with air bnb.

Would you fly from Manchester and hire a car ? Or get the ferry and take your own car over

If we do move, most of my pinballs will be sold

Not IOM specific I'm afraid, more moving to an Island in general....

Great idea going off season, I would say the mistake a lot of people make when moving here is visiting in the middle of summer, they like the town busy with tourists, outdoor cafes and beaches, but once the weather turns get a bit of a shock at just how empty and dull everything becomes.

Air BnB sounds like a good idea, try and find somewhere near the coast, maybe inland and maybe in town too, try and get as much of a feel as possible.

Not 100% sure, but I believe they are like us and don't have major phone networks, so you may be better off buying a Sure sim with plenty of data when you get there if your wife will need to connect, otherwise you could run up roaming charges.

Definitely take the ferry, flights are great, but useless for bringing anything with you, if you do end up moving there you will probably be using the ferry a fair bit, may as well see what its like.
