Andrew Backhouse has just been mentioned on X-ray which reports dodgy people on BBC1 Wales, he got done by Pembrokeshire trading standards for claiming it had an electrical certification on a Dualit toaster that had a melted plug.
He was from St Leonard’s East Sussex.
Unreal!

The article mentions a third party PAT tester, is the issue not with them? Sounds like they was issuing fake certs? Or did this guy just make up all the certs him self lol?

Think he did it, you can buy a roll of PAT test stickers and just fill them in. I do my boys stuff for when they go to uni, have an old roll I used to use but have a tester etc and qualified but any idiot can get the qualification for PAT testing. But it takes a special kind of idiot to pass one with a melted plug😂

Any idiot can get a qualification.....??? come on now.... Never been so insulted.....
If any idiot could get the qualification then he would be legal.

Signed - an idiot who wasted 2 days on a PAT testing course that could of been done in 15 minutes.....
PS - this has really made my day. The article is pure comedy.

Is Andrew Backhouse known to the pinball arena?

Totally worth a read

Background, he picked up a cheap getaway

Had a few problems with it that he asked for help with

Then sold it on ebay for a whopping markup (4.7 from memory. This was 2 years ago)

This is the thread where the buyer came back asking for help, and the refurb "big reveal" took place

This is pinfo canon, we should make all new members study these threads @Paul

Oh my god!!! That is absolutely hilarious!!!!! Lol

As much as I'd love to comment, perhaps best to keep quiet. But.... LOL!

"By responding aggressively to the consumer’s complaints Backhouse aggravated the situation further."

Sounds like Backhouse 🙈

Wow, that Andy is a crazy bloke, reminded me of a nasty trip to Blackpool and another somewhere near Nottingham/Derbyshire. Blackpool chap started calling later in the evening me and being threatening/aggressive after I said it was a bit rusty for my liking during my viewing. He never called back after I let him know I'd happily drive back to sort our differences out.
The other chap happily accepted I wasn't buying but I was slightly peeved that I'd spent my time travelling to an exaggerated description. In fact he did give me a Jokerz cabinet for my troubles as I'd talked about a full refurb of my other game.

Happily I've come to realise most of us on here are good folk honest since then.

Claims that a relative (brother, in this case) is a QC is apparently something the police are tired of hearing from those under arrest. Up there with 'go after some real criminals'. A cornerstone of their equivalent of Buzzword Bingo, maybe.

For such an expert on pins, I recall Andy had to have the method of configuring the Knocker drive on Wpc games spelled out in simplest terms.
