Phil Palmers dad used to repair them. He no longer does.

Do you have a local clock or watch repairer?

Old fashioned clock repairers can make the brass gear(s) that may be stripped

Thanks everyone, am a NEWBIE and am amazed by the response.
Correct, the gear was stripped which we have fixed but it is still very noisy. The motor however is on its last legs.

You should be able to swap in a replacement motor, has it any markings? 12V I presume?
