I'm after one of these (for a Bally rectifier board)

I can get them in the states, but my UK sources do not stock these.

Can someone loan or sell me one until I can get some in from the US

Thanks

Luke

What about Mouser UK?

They've got Xicon Cement wire wound power resistors. They don't have exactly 600 Ohms, but closest is 620 Ohm. The original part only had a 10% tolerance so could have been anywhere between 540 and 660 Ohms whereas the this new one is 5% tolerance so the range is just 589 to 651 Ohms, i.e., it's more like to be the correct value!

620 Ohm 10 W: http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Xicon/280-CR10-620-RC/?qs=GllRnnSqq%2b8%2bnOlLET9Yag==

Hi mate,

Mouser (UK) seem to send everything from the states from my previous experience with them, so not the fastest, as you get the random customs delays thrown in for fun.

I can get them, but hoping to find one in the UK so I don't have to delay this restoration project I am working on.

Isn't it wierd that Farnell / CPC / RS / Maplin / Rapid don't stock them, it doesn't seem that that much of an unusual value (also checked values +/- 10% as per your post)

Thanks

Luke

Well the best I can find in my parts room is 220r 15watt

At 43 volt it will consume 8.4watts so it's going to get pretty hot, but will be good enough during testing

Actually that's no good. I just simulated it on the bench psu and it got hot too quickly

The next best I can do is 3x 3.9k 5w in parallel, which is 1.3k 15watt and it will have to do

What about the 7w 470 or parallel 7k 1k from maplins?

Looking at the schematics it's the one on the fw rec's output for disspation when switched off (massive assumption!) so you dont kill yourself.

Without any load, the +43v supply has a significantly higher voltage. The resistor applies a constant load to that circuit, else each time a coil fired the voltage would drop down to 43v and then spike back up again as the coil was turning off

Have you tried eBay? I've managed to get random stuff like that on there before

Yup :) They are available for shipping from the US or China. ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I think I'll have to use my bodge for now and maybe make up an order at GPE or Mouser

Hi Luke, saw this thread earlier whilst I was at the slam and was hoping to be able to help out.

Just got back home from the show, I've had a rummage around in my spares box, and have found a 680 ohm 10 watt 5% tolerance ceramic resistor.

I bought a couple of these resistors from Ebay a couple of years ago when I was having the same trouble sourcing a 600 ohm resistor for my power supply board on the Vector I was doing up . I fitted the other one to the Vector and it worked fine.

I measured the resistance with my meter and it reads 670 ohms. Pictures attached:

Send me a PM if this is any good to you and I'll post it to you. :)
